Suleiman Kerimov is a Russian billionaire whose fortune derives primarily from a controlling stake in Polyus, Russia's largest gold producer, held via his son Said Kerimov. He was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in 2018 as a Russian oligarch with close ties to the Kremlin. In 2022 the U.S. Department of Justice alleged he was the beneficial owner of the Amadea and secured its seizure in Fiji, though a company called Millemarin Investment contested this in litigation; the Second Circuit ultimately rejected Kerimov's bid to stop forfeiture, and the yacht was sold at auction in 2025 to a new owner, reportedly Abbas Sajwani.
