David Geffen is an American entertainment executive who founded Asylum Records in 1970 and Geffen Records in 1980, and later co-founded the film studio DreamWorks SKG. Forbes has estimated his net worth in the region of $9–10 billion, making him one of the wealthiest figures in the entertainment industry. Rising Sun was built by Lürssen in 2004 for Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison; Geffen is reported to have acquired a half share in late 2006 and to have been sole owner since 2010.
