Skat

Charles Simonyi is a Hungarian-American software engineer best known for leading development of Microsoft Word and Excel during his long career at Microsoft, and he later flew twice as a private space tourist to the International Space Station. He commissioned Skat from Lürssen (delivered 2002) and owned her for roughly two decades before selling the vessel in October 2021. Public reporting on the buyer is inconsistent: some outlets reported the yacht was sold to a company linked to Swiss entrepreneur Eugenio Losa, while others later identified Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Røkke (owner of Aker and the REV Ocean project) as the purchaser. Simonyi subsequently commissioned a new, larger Lürssen yacht named Norn as his next vessel.
