The yacht was originally built for Russian billionaire Igor Makarov, founder and long-time head of gas producer Itera, who commissioned her as "Areti" from Lürssen in 2017. Makarov sold the vessel in 2019 to an Asian owner who renamed her "Amatasia," and she was sold again in 2023 to a currently undisclosed owner who renamed her "Gigia." No public reporting has identified the vessel's current owner.
