Alexei (Alexey) Mordashov is a Russian steel magnate and the main shareholder of Severstal, Russia's leading steel and iron-ore group, with further holdings through his investment vehicle Severgroup including a stake in the travel company TUI. Forbes' 2026 Russian ranking placed Mordashov and family at roughly $37 billion, making him Russia's richest individual; he has been under US, UK and EU sanctions since 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Nord is widely reported in mainstream media as his yacht, but ownership is held through corporate structures — Reuters and Fortune have reported that shipping records linked the vessel to a company connected to his wife, Marina Mordashova, rather than to Mordashov personally, so the ownership is reported rather than formally confirmed. After sanctions were imposed the yacht was re-registered in Russia, and a separate yacht linked to him, Lady M, was seized by Italian authorities in 2022.
